Brian Tracy
Wikipedia tells us that Brian Tracy has worked in more than 100 countries on six continents and speaks four languages. Brian is married to Barbara and has four children: Christina, Michael, David, and Catherine. He is active in community and national affairs and is the president of three companies headquartered in Solana Beach, California. He is a popular speaker and a prolific writer.
He is a great example of a person ‘walking his talk’.
Eat That Frog is the seventh book out of twenty-three that he has written.
In the preface to this excellent book Brian Tracy writes these words, “Throughout my career, I have discovered and rediscovered a simple truth. The ability to concentrate single-mindedly on your most important task, to do it well and to finish it completely, is the key to great success, achievement, respect, status, and happiness in life.”
This key insight is the heart and soul of this book.
On page six of the introduction, he reveals the three D’s of New Habit Formation,
“First, make a decision to develop the habit of task completion.”
“Second, discipline yourself to practice the principles you are about to learn over and over until they become automatic.”
“And third, back everything you do with determination until the habit is locked in and becomes a permanent part of your personality.”
There are twenty-one chapters, and each short chapter (average 5 pages) is highly interesting and easy to digest.
I really like that at the end of each chapter are two suggested action items under the heading ‘Eat That Frog’.
Pithy, Practical and Positive– Eat That Frog is a book worth reading and rereading.
